POLICE have quashed reports of a lunch-time bomb scare in Stourbridge.

West Midlands Police said officers were alerted at 1.40pm and a section of Stourbridge Ring Road was closed after reports were received that a discarded box had been left near to Stourbridge Police Station.

But spokesman Billy Corrigan said the scare was a false alarm and he added: "It's all fine now - it's all back to normal. The road re-opened at 2.11pm."

During the scare officers diverted traffic off the town's ring road onto Hagley Road and also evacuated the nearby Aldi store.
