STAFF at Mary Stevens Hospice were presented with their much-needed bladder scanner after £10,000 was raised from donations.
The Anthony and Gwendoline Wylde Memorial charity sent a representative, Brian Edwards from the firm to make the presentation on Thursday February 22, as they made a generous donation towards the scanner.
After months of campaigning for this piece of equipment the hospice finally reached the target of £10,000 to enable them to purchase the latest equipment and help towards the continued upkeep and maintenance of the scanner.
Mary Stevens Hospice needed the scanner as it gives a reading to see if the bladder is functioning well and emptying properly.
The hospice aims to improve the quality and life of the patients and this device helps to prevent irritability and infections which can lead a relapse in their condition or hospitalisation.
Senior staff nurse in the day care unit, Linda Ellis said: "I willingly volunteered to help train my colleagues at the hospice having used a bladder scanner in my previous post as a urology nurse and have attended a course led by the manufacturer.
"Thank you to everyone who supported our bladder scanner appeal not only did we have support from our local community but also The Anthony and Gwendoline Wylde Memorial Charity who contributed a substantial sum to the appeal."
