HARDLY has the dust settled after another successful Kinfayre - and the village is bracing itself to be invaded again with Kinver Music Festival set to strike a chord for three days starting on Friday July 10.

Pubs, clubs, restaurants, schools, church halls and hotels have all joined forces to host a variety of music which organisers hope will offer something for everyone.

This year's festival follows last year's first-ever event and promises to offer much more.

Musician and organiser Tim Charnock said: "Last year we were just dipping our toes into the water. This time the festival is much bigger and runs over three days instead of one.

"All the pubs in Kinver have bought into the festival and are really backing us. They will be hosting events on Friday and Sunday which is absolutely free of charge.

"This year, we've got into bed with the Rotary Club of Kinver who will be staging their Saturday Spectacular which is a ticket-only event. They will be looking to raise funds for Mary Stevens Hospice and Acorns Children's Hospice."

Kinver pubs The Royal Exchange, The Fox, The Olde White Harte, Plough and Harrow, The Cross and The Vine will be hosting musical performances to suit all tastes - from harp music to light opera to Irish music, folk, rock 'n roll and blues. There will also be performances by The Gentlemen Songsters Male Voice Choir and African drummers Spirit of Djembe.

Dunsley Hall Hotel in particular will be hosting several up and coming acts over the weekend including Beth Sherburn, Dan Greenaway and Kelly Cranston to Vix and the MisChiefs.

Tim Charnock added: "If all goes well, then next year we would like to build a stage on Stag Meadow in the hope of attracting a really big crowd - but we'd probably need a well-known headline act to achieve that.

"When we started the music festival, we wanted to build it up steadily so we could remain in control of it. The event takes six months of planning and requires a considerable amount of hard work.

"We use Kinfayre as a vehicle to promote the music festival and we must have distributed around 5,000 flyers and a programme of events this time. It all helps to put Kinver on the map."

Tickets for Saturday's Spectacular cost £12 and can be obtained from the post office in Kinver High Street or at Stourbridge Travel in Wollaston.
