A MAN has been taken to hospital after falling onto the tracks at Stourbridge Town train station.

The incident, which happened at around 10am, saw the Stourbridge Shuttle service between the town and junction stations cancelled while paramedics worked to lift the man off the tracks.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent its Hazardous Area Response Team and an ambulance out to assist after receiving reports that a man had fallen from the platform.

An ambulance service spokesman added: "The man was on the tracks when we arrived. We treated the patient at the station and he was taken to Russells Hall Hospital."

The man, whose age is unknown, was suffering from slight hip and back pain but was not thought to be seriously injured.

The Stourbridge Shuttle service is now operating as normal.
