A BLACK Country charity that offers a sympathetic ear to people in distress is appealing for donations to help raise the £20,000 it needs to stay afloat.
Volunteers at Brierley Hill Samaritans work tirelessly to provide around-the-clock confidential advice to vulnerable people - both on the telephone and via email.
They help thousands of people each year but as the demand on the service increases, so does the annual running costs.
As an independent charity, it must cover its own costs as it does not receive funds from the national organisation.
Graham Bristow, chairman of the Brierley Hill branch, said throughout July, volunteers raised £499 through various collections and events but they need a helping hand to raise more.
He has appealed for individuals, local groups or businesses to consider supporting the branch financially.
Anyone who would like to make a donation should contact Mr Bristow by sending an email to bhsgraham@icloud.com.
