MORE than 100,000 words, 260 pages and close to 200 pictures has finally created a fitting tribute to those who fell from Wall Heath and Kingswinford during two world wars.

Such is the wealth of information uncovered by researchers that it took three years to complete the project when it was expected to take two.

The painstaking roll of honour is chronicled in a book entitled: 'The Lost Sons of Wall Heath and Kingswinford' which is set to be launched on December 5.

Joy Marshall of the Wall Heath and Kingswinford War Memorials Research Group said: "It has been constant work and taken up every spare moment.

"As well as contributions from relatives of the fallen, much has been learnt from official documents which have only recently been released to the public.

"The men commemorated on the memorials served in all three services and the home defence. They fell and now lie in all four corners of the world having served in nearly every theatre of war."

The launch will take place at Kingswinford Library from 9am until noon. Then at the Church of the Ascension church hall in Wall Heath from 2pm until 5pm.

The book costs £10 and has been both subsidised and supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
