A SERIES of walks around Stevens Park, Wollescote, kicks off this weekend as its famous collection of flowers comes into bloom.
The ceanothus collection at the park - which comes into bloom in early summer creating a sea of dark blue, lavender, pink and white - is part of the National Plant Collection and is the largest single collection in the country, with more than 80 varieties.
Park keeper Phil Crowther is leading the walks; the first takes place on Sunday May 27 at 2pm - and they will run every Sunday thereafter throughout June.
Daniel Fildes, parks development officer, said: "This is the first time we've rolled out a programme of walks around the collection. The flowers are at their peak in June and this is a great opportunity to find out more about these stunning plants."
Participants need to meet in the main car park.
