A YEAR after she was rescued from a life of stress and neglect, Lexi is still looking for a loving home.

The Staffordshire bull terrier was used for breeding from a young age - giving birth to eight litters of puppies - and was kept outside and abandoned when her owner moved away.

Luckily, Dudley based Ravens Rescue stepped in and placed the seven-year-old in foster care while they looked for a suitable ‘furever’ home.

Sarah Harris, founder of the rescue, said: “We were asked if we could help Lexi after she had been left in a garden unwanted after being used for breeding.

“She arrived a loving but scared girl who overtime has blossomed into a fun loving wonderful little girl.”

She is currently enjoying life with Jill and Bob Tyka, who say despite her rough start to life, she is a delight to have around.

Although the couple adore Lexi, they would love to see her adopted as they feel she needs to have owners that are more active.

Jill said Lexi loves to sleep but once she has woke up and had breakfast, she enjoys a walk before returning home to snooze and play with her ball.

She said: “She’s very good in the car and walks lovely on the lead and doesn’t really pull and she’s good with children but the rescue recommends she’s rehomed with older children as she can get a bit excited.

“She’s very good with commands and can sit and give paw – she also knows what it means if you tell her ‘no’ and she will wait.

“Lexi isn’t destructive and is fine to be left on her own but she needs to be with people who are more active than us.”

Even fireworks don’t bother Lexi but she does needs to be an only pet as she is nervous around other dogs.

Jill and Bob can’t understand why the loveable pooch hasn’t been snapped up and hope that anyone thinking about getting a pet will consider Lexi.
