ORGANISERS of Wordsley Festival are hoping the sun will shine on this year's event - having moved the traditional summer fun day to a date in July.

The family-friendly festival, which is held in Wordsley's King George V Park in Bells Lane, is set to take place on Saturday July 9 when it is hoped there'll be better weather on offer.

Organisers decided to move the festival date after a number of washout events in June.

It also means the festival now falls during Black Country Festival month.

Chairman Mick Davies said ward councillors Paul Brothwood and Kerry Lewis had helped to secure funding for the event and he said: "Without Paul and Kerry's interest in supporting community events such as ours we would be left with nothing in the neighbourhood."

Anyone interested in booking a stall for the event can email wordsleyfestival@gmail.com or call Mick Davies on 07582 306200.
