STOURBRIDGE Co-op shoppers have been thanked for their ‘valued’ support as the High Street shop announces it is to close at the start of next month.
The convenience chain will bring the shutters down on the store on Saturday October 1 after years of prominence in the town centre.
Staff at the shop have said they are aware of the closure and sales have already started to get rid of stock.
A spokesman for the Co-op said “every effort” will be made to help staff find other jobs, with the decision to close the store being of “greatest reluctance”.
He said: “Our High Street Stourbridge store is expected to close on Saturday, October 1.
“The decision to close any store is taken with the greatest reluctance, and forms part of our ongoing food store review and long-term growth strategy, which is moving forward with a clear purpose and momentum to deliver a compelling and co-operative shopping experience.
“Colleagues have been informed, and every effort will be made to find alternative employment.
“We would like to thank our customers for their valued custom and support.”
