CRITICALLY acclaimed musical La La Land – which has broken the record for the most Golden Globe awards – has hit Black Country cinema screens today (Thursday, January 12).

Starring award-winners Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, the film is an enchanting story of a pianist and an aspiring actress who meet and fall in love in Los Angeles.

The film runs until Thursday, January 26, at Wolverhampton’s Light House, with CEO Kelly Jeffs previewing the film at the Toronto Film Festival and has since been encouraging customers not to miss “the film of 2017”.

Film reviewer Darryl Griffiths, who also works at the Black Country community venue, was equally taken with La La Land, describing the film as: “An irresistible love letter to golden-age Hollywood and a cinematic experience to treasure.

“La La Land is a moving, mesmeric musical masterpiece that will steal your heart.”

As well as awards for the actors, director Damien Chazelle (Whiplash) was recognised, as well as prizes for best original song, score, screenplay and best musical or comedy film.

La La Land is showing at Light House twice a day, with additional matinee screenings on Saturday and midweek.

To buy tickets, ranging from £4.50 for under 25s and for midweek matinees, to £8.15, or for more details, visit www.light-house.co.uk

The film is also showing at Dudley Showcase and Merry Hill Odeon.
