A STORY of adventure, romance and sublime, authentic music is all part of a majestic Persian epic which is being performed in the Black Country next week.

The Shahnameh: the Epic Book of Kings will be at Stourbridge’s Glasshouse Arts Centre from 7.30pm on Friday, March 31.

Following a hugely successful visit to MAC Birmingham in September last year, the show – which features full-blooded performance from storyteller, Xanthe Gresham-Knight and an authentic musical soundscape created by virtuoso Persian musician Arash Moradi – returns to the Midlands.

Developed for touring using the art of live storytelling by Adverse Camber, in partnership with Xanthe and Arash, The Shahnameh is staged as a tale of heroic adventure, war and romance with spoken word, expressive movement and traditional, live music intertwined.

A hand-picked selection of stories drawn from the thousand year old Iranian literary masterpiece, Shahnameh, are combined with sublime and rhythmic music, to create an enchanting and powerful performance that dives into the majestic mythology of Persia.

To buy tickets for The Shahnameh: the Epic Book of Kings, costing £8 for adults and £6 for concessions, call the box office on 01384 399433, or visit www.rmt.org/glasshouse/events
