STOURBRIDGE has named their all-star team which is set to line-up against a West Bromwich Albion legends side in aid of Mary Stevens Hospice on Sunday (April 2).

Many Glassboys favourites will be involved in the now annual charity football match at the War Memorial Ground, which last year raised more than £15,000 for the Stourbridge hospice.

Captain Matt Webb, who organises the event in memory of his mum and hospice supporter Jane, has announced 17 former Stourbridge players have so far agreed to represent the club.

They include Craig Slater, Adam Bastable, Sam Rock, Lewis Solly, James Dyson, Ross Collins, Tim Nicholls, Morgan Brookes, Damian Whitcombe, Lee Dimmock, Andy Wells, Lee Bullimore, Nathan Bennett, Lee Booth, Dean Coleman, Lee Rollason and Jamie Rogers.

The West Brom legends team have so far confirmed a number of former professionals will take on the Glassboys, including Darren Moore, Geoff Horsfield, Bobby Gould, Nigel Quashie and Paul Peschisolido.

Matt said: “It seems like every day there’s something new and exciting going on and being confirmed for the day, and from my point of view it’s just a wonderful feeling to see it generate so much support from so many different areas of the community.

“When we stop and think about where we were just 15 months ago having never done an event before and being optimistic that we might raise 500 quid, it’s quite surreal to think we’re hoping to raise £15,000.

“It’s been a really incredible journey, and I just hope that everyone turns out on Sunday, April 2, to come and enjoy a fantastic community day out.”

If any other ex-Stourbridge first teamers from the club’s Southern League or Midland Alliance days would like to be involved, call Matt on 07974 693093.

Gates will open for the game (kick off 2.30pm) at 1pm for a pre-match family fun day, with tickets costing £5 for adults and free for under 16s.
