FEARLESS friends have taken a leap of faith after jumping from a plane 10,000ft up in the air for a very worthy cause.

Sainsbury's Amblecote staff member Lisa Cope decided to complete a sky dive for her store's charity partner, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

She was joined in her tandem dive at Tilstock Airfield in Shropshire on Friday (April 21) by best friend Linda Mann, who works for West Midlands Ambulance Service, and the pair were supported by family, friends and work colleagues on the day.

They were also joined by Vicky Ryan, Hearing Dogs’ community fundraising manager for the Midlands, as well as Hearing Dog Harley (pictured below) and his owner Tom Kane, who watched on from the ground.

Café team leader Lisa said: “The skydive has proved a great topic of conversation in the café and the store. Both Linda and I would like to thank everyone who has sponsored us, in store and at the Dudley hub of West Midlands Ambulance Service.

“We are both proud to have completed it for such a worthy cause as Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.”

A series of photos from the day are now on display in the café at the Sandringham Way store and a video of the skydive will be available to view in a couple of weeks.

Customers and staff members at Sainsbury’s Amblecote have already raised more than £5,600 for the charity since their partnership began last summer and the skydive funds will also be added to their final total.

Vicky added: “We are so impressed with Lisa and Linda and can’t thank them enough for their extra-ordinary fundraising efforts, not to mention taking part in a skydive. The fact that they have raised over £2,600 to help support the work we do is awe inspiring.

“We also would like to say thank you to Julie Bate and the wonderful staff at Sainsbury’s Amblecote who have supported their colleague Lisa all of the way and undertaken fundraising of their own for us too.”
