A PAIR of nurses got the chop at a Stourbridge salon as they donated their hair to a children’s charity.
Debbie Pearn and Laura-Jane Bennett, who both work at the Princess of Wales Community Hospital in Bromsgrove, wanted to raise money to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that provide free real hair wigs to children who’ve lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other illnesses.
Earlier this month, the duo visited Stourbridge-based hairdressers Bliss & Bliss Hair, run by the mother and son partnership of Jill and Lawson Bliss, where they got their hair cut before they donated it to the charity.
Their colleagues at the hospital had raised money through running and other activities, but Debbie and Laura-Jane wanted to do things differently.
Debbie said: “Colleagues at work have raised money by running the London Marathon, but we wanted to do something too.
“We both have long, thick hair and thought this charity would be appropriate.”
Laura-Jane added: “We wanted to do something that would benefit and give confidence to children who are going through cancer treatment.”
