TV stars Ricky Tomlinson and Michael Starke made a road trip stop-off at a Stourbridge auction house at the weekend.

The pair, who appeared together in TV soap Brookside, stopped off at Fieldings Auctioneers on Saturday June 10 as part of their journey on Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.

Actor, comedian and author Ricky played Bobby Grant in Brookside but is perhaps best known for his role as Jim Royle in TV sitcom The Royle Family, and Michael played Thomas 'Sinbad' Sweeney in Brookside for 16 years before going on to appear in Coronation Street.

After searching for bargain treasures around the UK - the pair, accompanied by antiques experts Marji Cooper and Catherine Southern, called in at Fieldings in Mill Race Lane to see who could make the most cash for charity from their collectibles at auction.

Auctioneer Nick Davies said: "It was great; they were here for about two hours and they were good fun. Ricky Tomlinson was very entertaining - he's a really nice guy."

A Chinese bamboo sleeve vase, dinky toys, Japanese pottery and antique microscopes were among items bought by the celebrity duo that went under the hammer.

Fans of the BBC2 show, however, will have to wait until the programme is screened in late autumn to see exactly how Ricky and Michael got on at the auction.
