STOURBRIDGE hairdresser Brooke Evans has proven she is 'a cut above' after reaching the final of the industry's most prestigious awards.

The 23-year-old stylist from Tim Scott-Wright @ The Hair Surgery, Wollaston, has been nominated for the newcomer of the year award in The British Hairdressing Awards 2017.

The award aims to recognise the most inspiring young talent in the industry and can well and truly put a new stylist on the map and highlighting them as one to watch.

Tim Scott-Wright, who won the award back in 1998, said: "I am delighted for Brooke. This is definitely proving to be her year and she is showing once again what a talented hairdresser she really is.

"The newcomer category is the most hotly contested category and sees entries from all the top salons in the UK so even getting to the final six is a major achievement."

Brooke, from Highley near Kidderminster, has already made it to the finals of a host of award schemes.

She reached the finals of the Wella Exposure competition, The Step-up-and-Shine Scholarship, she was also in the final six for junior of the year and in the regional finals of the L'Oréal Colour Trophy Awards 2016.

She said: “I am so happy, it has been my dream since I started hairdressing to win a British Hairdressing Award and I am a step closer.

"This really has been an amazing year and I feel really lucky that Tim has been so encouraging and supportive of me and my career."

Brooke will find out if she has won at The British Hairdressing Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, on November 27.
