BOMB disposal experts swooped on Pensnett this afternoon.

Police were called to Corbyns Hall Lane after two hand grenades were discovered at a property at around 12.40pm.

Some residents were evacuated and a cordon was put in place whilst the Army's bomb disposal team carried out a controlled explosion.

A woman, who did not wish to be named, told the News that there was a "very loud bang" and "a lot of smoke" at around 4.15pm.

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesman said they were informed about the incident at 1.30pm but were not asked to attend.
