MORE than 35 new jobs are to be created at the new Aldi store in Kingswinford which is set to open its doors next month.

Aldi has already recruited for the majority of positions at the soon-to-launch Dudley Road supermarket, but still has vacancies available for deputy store managers and apprentices.

Dudley-born James Green has been appointed store manager and he said: “We’ve got a great team lined up for the Kingswinford store, which will ensure we offer shoppers the best possible service.”

Mr Green, who joined Aldi as an assistant store manager in 2011 and was promoted to store manager just four years later, added: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to manage the store, which is so close to my hometown, and the team and I are really looking forward to meeting customers on opening morning.”

Aldi will announce plans for its Kingswinford store launch celebrations in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile – the discount supermarket chain, which was named Employer of the Year 2017 at the Grocer Gold awards, is seeking people with management experience for its deputy store manager positions in Kingswinford.

Deputy store manager roles start from 25 hours per week, with a starting salary of £9.53 per hour - rising to £11.15 per hour plus £4 extra per hour when managing the store.

Store apprentices will be trained in all aspects of retail management during a three-year course, combining in-store and theory work. The scheme offers store assistant training in year one and store management training in years two and three, with a salary of £165 per week in year one - rising to £240 per week in year three.
