KINVER performers are getting set to bring to life the the classic tale of Whistle Down the Wind.

The show, being presented by Kinver Light Operatic Society, will run at Kinver High School theatre, from September 13 to 16.

Based on the 1961 movie starring Hayley Mills - the production, which is set in a deeply religious town in Louisiana, follows a young girl who befriends an escaped convict - believing him to be Jesus Christ.

Jess Skidmore stars as Swallow who looks after the man behind her father's back, developing a close relationship with him while the townspeople are on high alert at the news a man on the run is nearby.

And seasoned stage star Cy Wooldridge, who has backed Russell Watson on his UK tour and Kathryn Jenkins on Songs of Praise, stars as The Man.
