A PIANO concert celebrating the life of famed composer Scott Joplin, dubbed the king of Ragtime, is being held in Wollaston this weekend.

The event, organised by Stourbridge based Local and Live, will take place at St James's Church, Bridgnorth Road, on Saturday September 23.

Stourbridge based pianists Michael Jones, Edward Caine, Pam Street, Mike Smith and Matthew Davies will be joined by Jazz specialist Guy Rowland.

The concert will also include jazz inspired music written by all-time greats George Gershwin and Billy Mayerl.

Local and Live Chairman Graham Smith said: “This concert will really appeal to anyone who enjoys music from the jazz and Ragtime era. To enable younger music fans to experience this style of playing anyone under 18 years of age can get in free of charge."

The concert starts at 7.30pm, and tickets will be available on the door - priced £10.
