PUPILS at a Stourbridge school have been given a major boost after £11,000 was raised to buy dozens of brand new computers.

As well as paying for the installation of 30 new computers, Greenfields Primary School will also be able to pay for a full refurbishment of the ITC suite, including new cabling and decoration.

The Friends of Greenfield School set out at the start of the last school year to raise £7,500 to fund the much-needed new computers and a Christmas fair, which brought in £3,520, and £3,163 raised at the school’s summer fair helped the group rocket past their target.

Lee Dawson, chairman of the friends group, said: “Although a large percentage of funds have been raised by the two main social events in the school calendar, we were also busy with discos, mufti days, story night, chocolate bingo night, ice cream sales, uniform sales, refreshments served and raffles held at events.

“We have been generously supported by many local companies, especially through their donation of raffle prizes or items needed for the fairs, which has helped us maximise the profit made.

“All this added up and contributed to our massive achievement.”
