HAGLEY Primary School have been awarded £1000 towards redevelopments to its existing hardcourt sporting facilities, thanks to a generous donation from a local housebuilder.

CALA Homes made the donation as part its new community bursary scheme, to help improve the schools current hardcourt facilities to create an all-weather flood lit pitch.

The pitch which will be utilised by the school for football, tennis, netball and basketball, as well as being open to use by groups in the local community.

Head teacher Vanessa Payne said: “We are thrilled to have received this funding and the money will go towards supporting the redevelopment of our sporting facilities.

“Due to the deterioration of the current hard courts and seasonal restrictions, we have been unable to support sporting groups all year round, including the very young and disabled groups.

“With the funding from CALA Homes, we are one step closer towards completing the project and look forward to launching the new facilities, hopefully by September 2018.”

The school was chosen as one of the recipients of a donation through the CALA Community Bursary scheme, which invited local charities, organisations and groups to apply for help to fund projects which make a vital difference in and around their communities.

Mark Wright, managing director at CALA Homes Midlands, said: “We are thoroughly committed to supporting the communities in which we build and as such, we are delighted to provide Hagley Primary School with the funding needed to complete this very worthwhile project which will have wider benefits for the local community.”
