A BELBROUGHTON animal sanctuary will be hosting its annual singalong festive fundraiser this weekend.

Animal Sanctuary and Protection will hold its seasonal Carols on the Green event on Sunday December 17 from 4pm.

The sanctuary's resident rescue animals - Dotty the donkey, little pony Gem, Welsh cob Bonnie and ex-riding pony Ferbie - will be attending the candle-lit event which will take place on the village green, off Belbroughton High Street.

Organiser Gaye Hadley said: "They're all going to be there - they've all learned their carols."

Money raised from the event will go towards winter feed for the sanctuary animals.

Mince pies will be available afterwards.

The event is one of the biggest fundraisers for the sanctuary which was founded by the late Anthea Frisby who dedicated her life to taking in old, unwanted and ill-treated horses, donkeys and ponies.

Mrs Frisby died in September 2013 after a battle with cancer but a team of dedicated volunteers have continued to care the animals she rescued.

Anyone unable to attend the event but wishing to make a Christmas donation to the sanctuary can send cheques payable to ASAP Belbroughton to Church Farm, Bradford Lane, Belbroughton, DY9 9TF.
