A MAN has been jailed for more than six years for a string of burglary, car theft and driving offences including one in Brierley Hill.

Eamon O'Reilly, aged 20, of Pershore Road, Stirchley, Birmingham, was sentenced to six years and eight months in prison when he appeared at Worcester Crown Court last Friday (March 16) following an investigation by West Mercia Police.

Properties across Worcestershire and the West Midlands were targeted during the crime spree by O'Reilly - who was also hit with an extended driving disqualification period of 40 months and ordered to pay a victim surcharge.

On January 24 this year, he burgled a house in Northfield, Birmingham, stealing a handbag which included cash and bank cards.

A week later on January 31, he burgled a house on The Meadway, Redditch and stole the spare keys for a Mercedes C220 and an Audi A4. He then stole both vehicles from the driveway.

He then broke into a property on Green Park Road, Bromsgrove, on the same date and took the spare keys to a Toyota Yaris and a BMW 420D, which he then stole.

The BMW was recovered in the West Midlands the following day and the Yaris was later recovered on February 5.

On February 10 O'Reilly then broke into a property on Amelas Close, Brierley Hill, and stole a Vauxhall Mokka and a Ford Focus, plus two mobile phones and a wallet containing bank cards and cash.

The Vauxhall Mokka was later seen on Silver Street, Kings Heath, at around 3.30pm and he was then arrested.

Police recovered the Ford Focus in the West Midlands the following day on February 11 - and on February 12 O'Reilly was arrested for the Redditch, Bromsgrove and Northfield burglary and vehicle offences.

He pleaded guilty to all of the offences, as well as two counts of driving while disqualified.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said after he was sentenced: "I hope this result demonstrates that we take domestic burglaries and the associated offences very seriously and we will always work to bring those responsible before the courts."
