PLAYERS, coaches and fans of all ages from Stourbridge Rugby Club will tackle a near 20-mile walk in memory of a much-loved teenager later this month.
The ‘Walk for Tom’ will be a tribute to Tom Mole, a member of the club’s junior section, who died aged just 14 in April after a short illness.
The walk, on Saturday, June 23, starts at 10am at Birmingham Children’s Hospital – where Tom was treated – and ends back at the rugby club in Bridgnorth Road.
It will take mostly the same route as the number 9 bus and will stop at the Plough in Wollaston for the final 15-minute leg to allow those who cannot walk the full distance to join in.
The walk will raise funds for BCH and a Justgiving page www.justgiving.com/fundraising/srfcu14 has been set up, already raising a whopping sum of more than £26,000 and counting.
