A HAGLEY cop walked his way into a cash boost for old soldiers after a 40-mile French trek.
Pc Mike Roberts, who is based at the village station, joined colleagues from the West Mercia force to march through D-Day beaches in Normandy in a bid to raise funds for the Royal British Legion.
The six-man team smashed their target of £1,000 by making their way through the historic beaches of Sword, Juno, Gold and Omaha after setting out from the landmark Pegasus Bridge.
The three-day journey raised a sponsorship total £1,125, funds will be further boosted by cash from the raffle of a bike donated by retail group Halfords.
The march held personal significance for Pc Roberts who received help from the Legion to modify his war veteran grandfather's home.
