A RAPPING robot gave recycling a plug when he met pupils of Pedmore CE Primary School this week as part of a nationwide tour.
Recycler the robot is a fun way of teaching youngsters about the importance of reusing, reducing and recycling and has visited 10 primary schools throughout the Dudley borough this week.
The council's recycling team organised the visits as part of the tour, which has been set up by Waste Watch, WRAP and Recycle Now. With funding from Health Promoting Schools, it is hoped it will help children see how they can make a real difference at home and school.
Waste Watch education officer Shirley Barre said the robot's rap about recycling and what children can do to help is quickly picked up and remembered by them.
Cabinet member of the environment Councillor Karen Shakespeare added: "We hope the children will then take the recycling message home and encourage their parents to take part in Dudley's black box recycling scheme."
