SHOPPERS and children have been discovering more about Islam by trying their hand at henna painting during an exhibition at Merry Hill this week.
Dudley Mayor Councillor David Stanley opened the Discover Islam One World event on Monday (Jan 21) at the Fountain Square, saying it was designed to "educate and engage people and help them discover more about Islam."
The exhibition, which runs until Sunday (Jan 27), also features a clothes corner, where people can try on clothes worn by people from different cultures, a display of coins and scientific instruments from the Islamic world, along with a resident artist and performances throughout the week from traditional nasheed singers.
Schools are visiting the exhibition to support their curriculum work in citizenship, religious studies, geography, history and science.
Shadow junior communities and local government minister Paul Goodman also attended the opening.
