A QUARRY Bank man described a double tragedy after the death of his father and mother within three weeks.
At the inquest into the death of Antony Cartwright, aged 76, his son Shaun told how the widower was affected badly by the death after his wife just weeks before.
Mr Cartwright was found dead at his home in Cole Street, Netherton, in August last year, a post mortem revealed his body contained a mixture of Morphine and alcohol.
At the inquest, on Friday February 1, Shaun said: "Mum died three weeks before, dad took that badly.
"We had offered for him to come and stay with us but he wanted to stay on his own, he was just devastated without mum."
Black Country coroner Robin Balmain recorded an open verdict saying he could not rule out the possibility Mr Cartwight was trying to kill himself but there was not enough evidence to be sure.
