A DERELICT pub which has become an eyesore for nearby residents and is blighted by vandalism looks set to finally be demolished.
The White Horse Inn in Cross Walks, Lye, closed its doors in March 2006 and since then has become a haven for yobs and vandals causing misery for nearby neighbours.
Residents have been concerned about graffiti and windows being broken and have been calling for action.
Planning permission has now been submitted to Dudley Council for the building to be demolished and for seven two bedroom houses to be built on the site.
Lye and Wollescote ward councilllor Mohammed Hanif welcomed the news, saying: "I can say I have received complaints from the residents saying that there was a lot of anti-social behaviour, windows being broken, graffiti increasing , litter issues and the whole building looking a mess and giving a bad impression to the whole area.
"People were asking what could be done about it.
"This site has been empty for a long time, with no-one potentially wanting to open it as business, therefore building houses would be a good opportunity and I would welcome this planning application."
