SAFETY measures put in place around Merry Hill to stop boy racers causing misery to nearby residents in Brierley Hill are proving a success.
Brierley Hill Area Committee heard last Thursday (January 31) how residents, councillors, the police and bosses from Westfield have been working together on long term solutions to the problem.
Initially plans to impose traffic calming measures such as a raised pelican crossing and a 20mph speed limit were put in place along The Boulevard between Mill Street and The Embankment.
Due to the success there are now proposals for the whole of The Boulevard to have these speed measures implemented.
Councillor Zafar Islam said:" I welcome theses proposals because as you all know Brierley Hill residents who live on the Embankment and Mill Street experience danger of anti-social behaviour of boy racers.
"This scheme prevents boy racers from annoying the lives of others."
The plan to extend the proposal along The Boulevard has the backing of Brierley Hill Area Committee and it will now go to the cabinet member for transportation for approval.
