Jail for Lye thief

A LYE man has been jailed for 20 weeks for failing to comply with the terms of a community order.

Peter Michael Walker, aged 29, of Balds Lane, was sentenced for theft of property from a motor vehicle by Halesowen Magistrates after he missed supervision appointments, which were required under the order originally imposed for the offence.

During the hearing, on Wednesday February 13, Walker was told a custodial sentence was justified due to his failure to comply with the order and his previous convictions.

CY Newton, aged 26, of William Street, Brierley Hill, was banned from driving for three years, given a 12 month community order and instructed to pay £70 costs for failing to supply a specimen of breath to police when required to do so.

Abbas Rashidnejad, aged 22, Fletcher Street, Lye, was given six penalty points, fined a total of £130 and ordered to pay £15 compensation for driving without a appropriate licence or insurance.

Before Halesowen Magistrates on Monday February 11

Anthony Steven Griffin, aged 34, of Hillbank, Lye, was banned from driving for 12 months, fined £200 and instructed to pay £150 costs and £15 compensation for driving with excess alcohol.

Griffin was further fined £100 for failing to stop after an accident, he was also fined £150 for using threatening or abusive words or behaviour.

Jason Paul Hill, aged 35, of Victoria Road, Quarry Bank, was given six penalty points, fined a total of £375 and ordered to pay £15 compensation for driving without an appropriate licence or insurance.

Michael Hamilton, aged 20, of Hungary Close, Stourbridge, was given six penalty points, fined £250 and ordered to pay £15 compensation for driving without appropriate insurance.

Wajid Aziz, aged 20, of Green Lane, Stourbridge, was given six penalty points, fined £150 and ordered to pay £15 compensation for failing to give the identity of a driver alleged to have committed an offence.

Ian Jeremy Morey, aged 46, of Church Street, Brierley Hill, agreed to be bound over to keep the peace for 12 months in the sum of £100, and, in particular, to refrain from causing alarm, harassment or distress towards his mother.

Kenneth John Wood, aged 59, of Cemetery Road, Lye, was banned from driving for two years and given a 12 month community order for driving while disqualified.

Wood was given a further 12 month community order and instructed to pay £70 costs for driving without appropriate insurance.

DMS Travel Ltd, of High Street, Quarry Bank, was fined £400 and ordered to pay £15 compensation for failing to give the identity of a driver alleged to have committed an offence.

Before Halesowen Magistrates on Friday February 8

Jonathan George Cartwright, aged 24, of Wynall Lane, Wollescote, was given an eight week jail term suspended for 12 months with a three month curfew requirement for stealing property from a shop.

Cartwright was re-sentenced after he failed to comply with the terms of a community order originally imposed for the offence.

Cartwright was further given a four week jail term suspended for 12 months to run concurrently and ordered to pay £180 costs for damaging property after he failed to comply with the terms of a community order originally imposed for the offence.

John Lewis Seymour, aged 24, of Wynall Lane, Wollescote, was given a community order for 12 months including a three month curfew requirement for theft.

Seymour was given another 12 month community order to run concurrently and instructed to pay £100 compensation plus £70 costs for assault.
