A CHILD was taken to hospital with serious head injuries after a collision with a car in Quarry Bank.

The 11-year-old boy, whose condition remains critical but stable, was cycling on Thorns Road at around 4.40pm yesterday (Thursday) when he was in collision with a Peugeot 106.

A paramedic in a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance crew and the County Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The boy suffered a severe head injury. He was taken by land ambulance to Russells Hall Hospital.

“The hospital had been put on alert for the arrival of the boy because of the seriousness of his injury.”

The road was closed after the incident until around 8pm and an investigation has begun.
