A RECOVERING cancer patient from Pedmore who runs a dance group is appealing for volunteers to help out.

Sylvia Horton from Woodland Close, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002 and underwent breast reconstruction.

She joined Rainbow Breast Reconstruction group which offers advice and support for women suffering from breast cancer.

To also help keep her mind off her illness Sylvia started a dance group called Fantasy Dance group, which gave her something to focus on during her recovery period.

But now the future of the group looks uncertain unless volunteers come forward to help oversee the dance classes.

She said: “I don’t want the group to close but without help we can not continue to run it.

“I am putting out an appeal for help as i need at least ten people to come forward and help out once a week, for two hours.

“I am looking out for people who can handle children and who can discipline children.

“People who volunteer will have to over look the dance classes and help to keep the children under control and focused.”

Sylvia runs the classes on Wednesday evenings, from 6pm till 8pm, at Hob Green primary school, for kids from the age of six up to 18.

Since she started the Fantasy dance group they have gone from strength to strength, regularly putting on shows for free.

She added: “I am after people who are be patient with the kids.

“I started the dance group and it has been a success, I just don’t want to see it close.”
