MP Lynda Waltho paid a visit to Quarry Bank metal manufacturer Bird Stevens Limited to see first hand the company’s recession-busting press shop, team and products.
The Stourbridge Labour MP requested the visit after hearing about the leading company’s growing success in the industry and the West Midlands - despite the economic downturn.
Managing director Steve Ruston gave Lynda a tour of the shop floor, introduced her to the team and briefed her about the new projects they have undertaken in the last six months to diversify and broaden the business - which specialises in press work, welding, fabrication, tube manipulation and assembly to produce finished products.
The company based in Sun Street has been working hard to stay on top during the recession by spreading its costs through the diversity of the engineering services on offer - and through its policy of value for money through quality and service.
Lynda said: “It is fantastic to see a manufacturing company doing so well during the current climate.
“It is important for the West Midlands to see manufacturers thriving, and to raise morale across this vital sector.
“I wish to personally congratulate Bird Stevens on their success in business and the many years they have been trading.”
Steve Ruston, managing director of Bird Stevens, said: “Our employees and the range of work we can produce in our press shop gives us that competitive edge.
“We were delighted to show Lynda Waltho MP around to give her first hand experience of exactly what we do here."
