A NEW series of Concerts in the Park kicks off at Baggeridge Country Park this afternoon (Saturday July 4).
The park near Sedgley will come alive with the sounds of James and the Giant - a four-piece rock/folk band inspired by REM and Crowded House from 4pm.
And acoustic artist Matt Tyler will be taking to the stage at around 5.30pm.
The performances mark the start of this season’s line-up of live music - which will be held in the park on weekends throughout July and August, up until the August 29-30 Weekend Folk Festival.
Other dates will see the Bill Bailey Band taking to the stage on Saturday July 18; The NC Big Band - Sunday August 2; The Cubans - Sunday August 9; Rack & Ruin - Sunday August 16; Sunday August 23 - The Divine Brothers; Saturday August 29 - The Remnants; Sunday August 30 - Giggetty.
All the concerts are held in the bandstand from 4pm and are totally free of charge.
Visitors are encouraged to take along friends and family and enjoy a picnic in the park. Seating and picnic blankets are not provided - and normal car parking charges apply.
