YOUNG people at a Stourbridge school are celebrating after collecting prestigious awards for helping fellow pupils.
Year ten students at Redhill School, Junction Road, have scooped the Diana Anti-Bullying Award for their work as mentors for younger year seven pupils.
The prize winning youngsters were presented with certificates signed by Prime Minister Gordon Brown on Thursday July 2 to mark their outstanding contribution to the Peer Mentor programme.
The scheme is designed to help new pupils make the transition from primary to secondary school with help from mentors who are trained to cope with a range of issues.
Brian Roe, assistant headteacher at Redhill, said: “All our mentors do a brilliant job and these are seven exceptional students who thoroughly deserve this success.”
