Stourbridge College students plant flag for England

STOURBRIDGE College students have been saying it with flowers to support England’s World Cup campaign.

Members of the horticulture group on the college’s Assisted Continuing Education (ACE) programme designed a flower bed to look like an England flag to back the nation's footballers’ bid for glory in South Africa.

Students with learning difficulties on the ACE course, based at the college’s Leasowes Centre in Halesowen, planned the design and chose the plants to make the patriotic display.

Stourbridge College lecturer, Alyn Ainsworth, said: “We thought that the students’ idea was great and we planted the flower flag in good time for the plants to flourish just before the World Cup kicked off. They are all really pleased with their efforts and the flag looks great.”
