YOUNGSTERS at St James’s Primary School enjoyed a right Royal knees up at a Jubilee party before end of term.

Children at the Kingsway school enjoyed an outdoor tea party attended by Dudley’s Deputy Mayor Alan Finch and his wife Heather, the Deputy Mayoress, yesterday (Thursday May 31).

Former headteacher Anne Penn, who retired last year, was also invited back to school to celebrate with staff and pupils who were entertained by student musicians from Old Swinford Hospital School, a look-a-like of the Queen and a special aeroplane flypast.

Headteacher Sally Sixsmith said: “The event had such a community feel. It was absolutely fantastic.

“We know this is a memory the children will never ever forget.”

Children at the school also planted a Royal Oak, taken from one of the Queen’s Royal estates, in their Forest School area on Friday June 1.
