COMMUNITY-spirited youngsters at The Ridge Primary School in Wollaston have been honoured with awards for their extra-curricular efforts over the last year.
Emelia Reynolds, George Bayfield, Charley-Ann Russon, Emily Meese, Emma Wilde, all aged 11, and ten-year-old Molly Field were presented with Rotary Junior Community Awards on Tuesday June 26.
The pupils spent nearly 12 months developing new skills such as cooking and calligraphy, taking part in physical activities such as swimming and running, doing a spot of community service such as helping elderly people with gardening and chores and attending social events on top of their studies to gain the awards.
Headteacher Deb Hudson said: “Being involved with the awards is a wonderful foundation for life as a good citizen.”
Three youngsters from Mount Pleasant Primary School in Quarry Bank also took part in the awards scheme run by the Rotary Club of Stourbridge to encourage children to play a part in community life.
