A STOURBRIDGE glassmaker is holding a summer sale to fund an inspirational trip to Mexico.

Sue Parry, who has a studio at The Ruskin Glass Centre, Wollaston, will fly out in October to spend four months living and working with Mexican artists to expand her horizons.

Visitors to Sue Parry Glass Designs will see that her speciality is sand-casting where molten glass is poured into a mould, taking up colours and textures which she then manipulates into exotic shapes.

She hopes her trip to Guanajuato, where the Cervantino Festival is held, will get her creative juices flowing as it is a month-long extravaganza of art, music, dance and culture, which attracts contributors from all over the world.

She said: “The vibrancy of the colours, the costumes and the art in Mexico will inspire a whole new exciting collection in 2014 that I will be creating in my local studio.”

The sale ends this Saturday (August 24) and anyone who wants to bag a bargain can visit her at the glass centre between 10am and 3pm.
