A YOUNG Stourbridge heart patient is looking forward to doing more homework after receiving her "dream" computer as an early Christmas present.

Lucy Tonks received the gift from Round Table Children's Wish, which makes wishes come true for children with life-threatening illnesses.

When she was eight weeks old, Lucy was diagnosed with a heart condition and in February last year, she had a mechanical heart valve replacement, which required seven operations in six days.

The 11-year-old, of Vicarage Road, Amblecote, will need more surgery as she gets older and will have to take the drug warfarin for the rest of her life.

Her mum Dawn Lockley said: "Each time she goes down to theatre, the risks involved are terrifying for us all. But we have a strong family bond and Lucy is so strong too, she always looks for the positives."

Miss Lockley said the Redhill School pupil was desperate for a computer to help keep on top of her school work and was "overwhelmed" when the Bournemouth-based charity fulfilled her wish.

She continued: "She will need more treatment to keep her heart working as well as it can, but this new computer has been a real boost for her and I want to say thank you to the charity for their generosity and for making my little girl's dream come true."

Lucy added: "I felt shocked, happy and very grateful when I heard I was having a computer. It is really fantastic and will really help me with school."

Cathy White from the charity said: "With the support of Alex Forty from Bewdley Round Table and Jeremy Hennequin and his staff at audent.co.uk we were able to source a fabulous Apple PC for Lucy."
