STOURBRIDGE Football Club will be pulling out all the stops to help loyal supporter Paul Smart.

The Glassboys plan to hold a bucket collection during Saturday's home game against Workington Town.

They will be raising money for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation after Paul's seven-year-old son William was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.

At present there is no cure for William's condition who now faces a lifetime of blood tests, injections, cannula insertions and hospital visits.

Paul and his wife Claire have not enjoyed a full night's sleep for the past two years as they have to perform routine testing on William while asleep to make sure his blood sugar levels don't drop too quickly, otherwise he could fall into a coma and die.

But despite this setback, Paul is planning to take part in the London Nightrider later this year - a 63-mile overnight cycle ride to help raise funds for the JDRF.

Paul, Claire, William and sister Tilly will be the Glassboys guests of honour on Saturday and club spokesman Nigel Gregg said: "Paul has been supporting Stourbridge Football Club for as long as I can remember. He used to be treasurer for the Supporters Club and never used to miss a game, home or away.

"It's great that the club can support him and I hope people will donate."
