THE brother of one of the victim’s in last night’s fatal crash in Brierley Hill has spoken of his tragic sibling, saying “he was no angel, but he put a smile on everyone’s face”.

Karl Green, 34, was one of the two men who died when the car they were driving crashed into a wall on Brettell Lane just before midnight.

Speaking to the News, his brother Adam, 31, paid a touching tribute to Karl, and said he was “loved by everybody who knew him”.

Adam said: “We are so shocked and the whole family is struggling to come to terms with it. He’s going to be such a big loss to all of us.

“I have had about 200 to 300 messages from people this morning saying how sad they were and sorry for us, especially being on Christmas Eve.

“People will remember Karl as someone who got up to trouble, but you could always forgive him because he was so loveable.

“He would be there to cheer anyone up as he was a proper joker and he sometimes was a ‘nutter’, but he had a heart of gold.”

Karl, who worked as a builder, leaves behind his four-year-old daughter who lives with his ex-partner after their separation.

Adam added: “He was so good as a father. Some of our family members did sometimes find him hard to get on with, but they would still love him to bits.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics were called to the crash near the junction with Crescent Avenue, at 11.59pm last night (Wednesday).

An ambulance service spokeswoman said: “Sadly, upon arrival, it quickly became apparent to ambulance staff that nothing could be done to save one man in the car and he was confirmed dead.

“The second occupant, a man, sustained multiple serious injuries and was trapped.

“Once extricated from the car, his condition rapidly deteriorated at the roadside and despite advanced life support by the team of ambulance staff the man couldn’t be saved and he was also confirmed dead.”
