STAFF at Sainsbury’s Amblecote are gearing up to do their bit for Sport Relief.

A Zumbathon led by Emma J's Zumba Classes will take place at the front of the store at Withymoor tomorrow (Friday March 18) starting at 11am.

Meanwhile Plasterperfect has donated a toilet to relieve supermarket customers of their loo-se change for charity as part of the ‘Spend a Penny for Sport Relief’ campaign.

Sainsbury’s Amblecote PR ambassador Julie Bate said: “The toilet has proved a huge talking point among customers and colleagues and the donations have been pouring in.”

Staff will also be running or walking a mile at The Dell Stadium, Bryce Road, Pensnett, on Sunday March 20, as part of the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games taking place across the UK which aim to get people running, walking, swimming and cycling to raise money for Sport Relief.

Kirsty Rose, store manager at Sainsbury’s Amblecote, said: “We’re looking forward to seeing our colleagues and customers get involved in this year’s Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games.

“Not only is the event going to be brilliant fun but there’s the opportunity to raise money for a fantastic cause. We’ll also be running fundraising events in store and have a fantastic array of merchandise on sale.”

A bake sale is also planned and the store is selling T-shirts, wristbands, softballs and yo-yos in aid of Sport Relief.

Enthusiastic staff have already raised more than £500 for the charity to date – having held a quiz night and raffle plus a sponsored walk on March 13 and a store tombola and visit from Mickey, Minnie and Elsa from Frozen. But they hope to raise even more over the next few days.

Money raised for Sport Relief goes to help vulnerable people in the UK and to help transform lives in some of the world’s poorest communities.
