FORMER West Bromwich Albion legends are set to take on a team of Stourbridge FC all-stars in aid of Mary Stevens Hospice this weekend.

Ex-players such as ‘Super’ Bob Taylor and Darren Moore are confirmed to be lining up at the special charity game on Sunday (April 10) at Amblecote’s War Memorial Ground.

All proceeds from the day will be donated to Mary Stevens Hospice in memory of Jane Webb, whose son Matt organised the event and will be leading out the Stourbridge side at 2.30pm.

The charity match has already attracted a lot of interest and the crowd will see a record number of 88 mascots coming out with the teams.

As well as the football, there will be face painting, bouncy castles, stalls and games, as well as a charity football auction after the match.

While at half time, a cross bar challenge will take place and the winner of the raffle – who will receive two Stourbridge FC season tickets – will be announced.

Youngsters from Wordsley-based Kingsley Olympic Football Club will be out and about helping to make sure the afternoon runs smoothly.

The club raised £150 this season from a number of fundraising events and used the money to purchase sweets which will be sold at the event, with all the money being donated to the Hagley Road hospice.

Amanda Bowen, Mary Stevens Hospice’s community engagement officer, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the fabulous interest this event has attracted from our local community.

“From the great response to our mascot appeal, contributions from friends and the family of Jane Webb, donations of sweets and help on the day from Kingsley Olympic Football Club and from the continued support of the Stourbridge FC chairman, we are gearing up for a fantastic, fun filled day!”

Entrance to the match – which kicks off at 2.30pm and gates opening at 1pm – costs £5 for over 16’s, while under 16’s are free.
