HUNDREDS of students and parents from across the borough attended a university fair-style evening enabling them to network with more than 15 of the country’s top institutions.

Hosted by Stourbridge MP Margot James as part of her aspirations programme, the event saw more than 200 people come through the doors of Glasshouse College in Amblecote.

As well as featuring representatives from 15 universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Birmingham, Southampton and King’s College London, the evening showcased a variety of university options to local students, alongside staff from UCAS – the body responsible for university applications.

Ms James said: “I was delighted that so many local students were able to attend the evening. The idea behind my aspirations programme is to give every student the opportunity to think ahead for the future - whether that be going to university, becoming an apprentice or training for a job.

“The university fair was the first event in my 2016 programme – with more to come later in the year focusing on careers and apprenticeships.

“I would like to thank all the universities that attended for offering up their time, and to Glasshouse College for allowing me to host the evening there.

“I hope that students and parents found the event helpful. I am confident, too, that many even managed to speak to the very institution they will be attending in September.”
