FUNDRAISERS across Stourbridge have taken part in the World Biggest Coffee Morning, helping to raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Support in the process.

Stourbridge’s Got 2 Sing choir held a cake sale at their meeting on Thursday evening (September 29), where members of the public were invited for a slice of cake and a sing-a-long, and were able to raise £279.

The choir spent Friday (September 30) taking part in a ‘coffee shop crawl’ around Stourbridge town centre where they were able to raise further awareness.

Across all of its nine adult choirs across the Midlands, Got 2 Sing members raised just over £1,500 for the charity.

Janine Turner, a teacher at Hob Green Primary School, held a Macmillan coffee morning from her home on Sunday (October 2) and raised £216.50.

He mother Maggie suffered from cancer three years ago.

On Friday, September 30, Ann Mearman held a coffee morning at her home, on behalf of Kingswinford Methodist Church, and raised a massive £940 for Macmillan.

Sue McDowall and Sheila Wrigley raised £538.31 at their Macmillan Coffee Morning on October 1, which they host anually at Wollaston Methodist Church.

Sheila said: "Our heartfelt thanks go to all the people who came and supported us as well as local trades persons who kindly let us display posters advertising the event in their shops."

Dudley South MP Mike Wood held a coffee morning at his Wordsley constituency office where he managed to collect £200 for the cause.

Staff at Sainsbury’s Amblecote raised more than £380 at their annual event which saw local residents, including leader of Dudley Council, Councillor Pete Lowe, popping in to make a contribution to the collection.

Colleen Shakespeare, café staff member, said: “We were overwhelmed by the donations from our customers and very humbled to hear how Macmillan assists their families, who have been affected by cancer.”
