A CYCLIST suffered cuts, bruising and a possible hip injury in the second road crash to result in the closure of busy Amblecote High Street this week.

The first incident – which happened at about 2pm on Sunday (October 9) – left a 35-year-old man dead after he was hit by a car at the junction of the High Street and Vicarage Road and saw the main through road closed for several hours while officers from West Midlands Police’s collision investigation unit worked at the scene.

Just over 24 hours later the road was part closed by police again after a cyclist was hit by a car near Canal Street and the ring road slip road.

The cyclist, a man in his 50s, was treated at the scene for cuts to his right arm and leg and a suspected injury to his right hip before being taken to Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.

Officers re-opened the road around 50 minutes later.

Anyone with information about Sunday’s fatal crash is urged to contact Sergeant Alan Wood or his team by emailing CIU_GENERAL@west-midlands.pnn.police.uk or calling 101 or people can leave information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
